Gunner: Free Space Defender

Gunner: Free Space Defender - Vehicle Combat Game

About the Game

Gunner: Free Space Defender is the first-person war 3D space shooter. Good old motto "Shoot 'em all" is probably the best way to precisely describe the game's purpose. You are the gunner controlling a space turret and your objective is to shoot, shoot and shoot some more to protect friendly objects and destroy all attacking enemies. As a Gunner you have 12 types of Primary weapons and 6 types of Secondary weapons for your space turret that will help you to do the job. Bullets for Primary weapons are unlimited, but each shot will cost you a score point. Secondary weapons are limited in ammo, so shoot it sanely. There are two game modes in the game: CAMPAIGN, where you choose your weapon and are not limited in time and SURVIVE, where with a certain type of weapon you have to complete the mission in a limited time. Each of them includes 32 missions with 4 types of difficulty, which will not leave you indifferent and will not let you get bored in this shooting game.

Game Mechanics

Vehicle Combat games put you behind the controls of military or armed civilian vehicles — tanks, fighter planes, helicopters, warships, or even armored cars — in battle against other players or AI. The core mechanics revolve around movement (driving, flying, sailing), aiming and firing weapons (cannons, machine guns, rockets, bombs), and managing vehicle‑specific systems like armor, engine temperature, ammo types, or fuel. Damage modeling is a key feature: shots can disable tracks, engines, wings, or turrets, not just reduce a health bar. You must lead moving targets, account for bullet drop and shell travel time, and angle your armor to deflect incoming fire. Game modes include team deathmatch, capture the flag (control zones), or objective‑based scenarios (destroy convoys, defend bases). Some titles offer realistic physics (stalling aircraft, shell ricochets, water physics for ships) while others lean arcade with health bars and power‑ups. Progression unlocks new vehicles, upgrades (better engines, reinforced armor, advanced optics), and camouflage. Unlike on‑foot shooters, Vehicle Combat tests spatial awareness in 3D space, knowledge of enemy weak spots, and tactical positioning — using hills for cover, gaining altitude for bombing runs, or angling your hull behind terrain. Perfect for players who enjoy mechanical realism, team coordination, and the satisfying thud of a penetrating shot.

How to Play

To hit a moving target, you need to shoot at a point in front of the target, in the course of its movement. Such a point is calculated for each type of weapon and is displayed by special markers in which you should aim. On PC: The turret gun is controlled with the mouse. Firing the primary weapon - left mouse button, launching a missile (in cases where there are any) - right mouse button. A,D : rotation along the longitudinal axis (if necessary). -,+ : change the mouse sensitivity. Press ESC - to make the mouse pointer visible and be able to click the buttons in the game. Press C - to return to the tourret control mode. On mobile devices: The turret gun is controlled with the buttons on the screen. Also you can, if desired, invert the Y-axis in the "Settings" of the game. During intensive firing the primary weapon might overheat and misfire; the temperature gauge that indicates overheating is located under the ammo counter.
